Amy Pieterse was born in Amsterdam to an Irish-American mother and a South African father of Indian descent. After attending school in New York, she relocated to Saint Petersburg with her mother, a distinguished professor of Russian literature. This diverse heritage is woven into the very fabric of her music.

In 2001, Amy formed her eponymous group, which has since become a cornerstone of the Russian soul and jazz scene. The ensemble is a regular fixture at premier clubs in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, a frequent guest at major jazz festivals, and a sought-after act for high-profile brand launches and private events.

The group is renowned for its improvisational mastery and virtuosic technique, led by Amy’s unforgettable voice and commanding stage presence. The music of Amy Pieterse is a masterful fusion of jazz and hip-hop, bridging Russian and Western sensibilities while balancing mainstream appeal with high-art sophistication.

«Amy Pieterse is unlike anyone else on the local scene. It’s not just her striking presence or her Amsterdam roots; it’s the fact that she performs jazz and hip-hop with an authenticity that feels hardwired into her soul. On stage, she is remarkably liberated, engaging each audience member individually. Even when performing for Mick Jagger at an afterparty for The Rolling Stones, she remains effortlessly composed and captivating.» — Time-Out
